今回はI’m surprised…「～に驚く」の型です。

  • surprised は「驚いた」という意味の感情を表す形容詞です。
  • surprisedの後には次のような前置詞や接続詞を続けて「何に驚いたのか」を説明することが多いです。
    • by: 何か具体的な事実や出来事に驚いたとき。
      • I was surprised by his sudden visit. 「彼の突然の訪問に驚いた」
    • at: 感情や反応を強調する場合や特定の状況に対する驚き。
      • I was surprised at the cost of the repairs. 「修理の費用に驚いた」
    • to: 何かを発見したり、特定の出来事に気づいたとき。
      • I was surprised to learn of her departure. 「彼女が去ったことを知って驚いた」
    • that : 驚くべき事実や出来事を紹介する場合。
