make sure を使った基本例文

1. Make sure you close the door before you leave.
   「出る前にドアを閉めるように確認して」
2. I made sure that she understood the instructions.
   「彼女が指示を理解していることを確認した」
3. We must make sure to finish the project on time.
   「プロジェクトを時間通りに終わらせることを確実にしなければならない」
4. Can you make sure the kids are in bed by 8 pm?
   「8時までに子供たちが寝ているか確認してくれる？」
5. She didn’t make sure that the gate was locked.
   「彼女は門が閉まっていることを確認しなかった」
6. Make sure to call me when you arrive.
   「到着したら私に電話するように確認して」

ミニ会話例

A: I heard you’re going on a trip. Did you make sure to pack everything you need?
「旅行に行くと聞いたけど、必要なもの全部パックしたか確認した？」

B: Yes, I made sure to check everything off my list.
「うん、リストのすべてにチェックを入れて確したよ」

• are in bed :「ベッドに入っている」「寝ている」 ※「寝る」はgo to bed
• on time :「時間どおりに」
• check off :「チェックを入れる」 例：As she completed each assignment, she would check it off her to-do list. 「彼女は各課題を完成させるごとに、それを自分のやるべきことリストにチェックしていった」

類似表現

• ensure : make sureと同様に「保証する」「確実にする」という意味を持ちますが、より正式な文脈で使用されます。
• confirm : make sureと類似していますが、confirmは既に存在する情報や事実を確認するときに使います。
• check : checkは具体的なアクションを伴うことが多いです。たとえば、荷物の中に必要なものが全て揃っているかを調べるといった具体的な行動を指すことが多いです。
